My journey began in the East, where the sun rises, and led me west, following the path of the setting sun. Along the way, I found myself in Italy, surrounded by history, art, and light filtering through stained glass windows. Sitting at a small café with an espresso, I learned to slow down and truly notice how light and glass interact.

 

That journey eventually brought me to a coastal town in California, where sunsets paint the sky in warm reds and golds, and the moon quietly rises as day fades. It was there that I felt inspired to begin creating with glass.

 

Stained glass has always felt special to me. When light passes through glass, it reveals something quietly beautiful—something that feels both timeless and new. Piece by piece, I cut, shape, and assemble glass by hand, bringing each work to life through light and color.

 

This desire to share that beauty is what led to the creation of BiNARi Glass Studio. Here, glass, light, and craftsmanship come together in a welcoming, creative space.

 

BiNARi comes from a Korean word meaning “blessing.”

먼 길을 떠났다. 태양이 뜨는 동쪽에서 태어나, 석양을 따라 눈과 바람이 휘날리는 차가운 대륙을 거쳐,  종교와 예술의 나라 이태리에서 스테인드 글라스에 투과된 빛의 향연에 심취해 길거리 한 모퉁이 창가에 앉아 에스프레스를 한 잔 마시며, 사색의 시간을 가졌다.  발 걸음은 다시 석양을 따라 걷기 시작했다. 그리곤 발길을 멈추었다. 붉고 노란 석양이 바라보이는 캘리포니아의 한 바닷가 근처의 마을이었다. 석양을 따라 걷는 길에 눈을 돌려 보니, 그 자리에 달이 떠 올랐다.  달과 별의 만남은 새로운 창조의 시작이었다. 만날 수 없는 두 존재의 자리에 한가지는 늘 있어왔다. 그것은 빛이었다. 그 빛은 유리를 만나 새로운 세계를 보여주었다. 마치 어머니가 딸과 아들을 낳듯이, 나 역시 유리  한 조각, 한 조각씩 자르고 다듬고, 이어 맞추면서 Art 라는 이름으로 세상에 내놓게 되었다. 그 이름은 “스테인드 글라스.” 

 

스테인드글라스는 빛이 유리를 통과 할 때마다 그 안에서 하나의 신비를 드러낸다. 그것을 난 "아름다움의 미학", “축복의 향연”이라고 부르고 싶다. 이 아름다움을 다른 이들과 나누고 싶다. 유리 조각 하나 하나가 모여 빛을 만나면 우리는 “세상에 새로운 창조자”가 되어 간다. 때론 붉게, 어떨때는 푸르스럼 하게.. 유리와 빛과 색의 조화를 통해, 우리는 이 세상에 “아름다움을 전하는 이들”이 된다. 이 자리에 여러분들을 초대하고 싶다.  이것이 비나리 스테인드글라스 공방(BiNARi Glass Studio)이 세상에 나오게 되었다.  [비나리 BINARI는 순수한  한국어 "축복"이라는 뜻]
